| Q: When are the courses conducted?
A: The courses are usually a one on one affair. I conduct the courses myself so the dates are dependant on when suits both myself and the client. Just e-mail me with dates that suit you and I’ll either be able to juggle my schedule, or we will have to agree to another date.
Q: If I want an additional needle-making course, can you provide it? Why don't you add this into your course?
A: I do not do needle making courses because there is no way you will be able to make the quality of needles that we have ready made. It takes a lot of practice to get this right and a lot of skin damage is usually the result of poorly made needles. There is also no way that you can guarantee the level of sterilization that eo gas does. Also, by law the needles have to be single use, individually wrapped.
Q: Should I invest in an autoclave sterilizer?
A: Absolutely….! First of all it is required by law for any tattoo shop or private person that is tattooing, and secondly, there is no other way to guarantee sterility of your equipment. Unfortunately the sterilizer is the single biggest expense usually in a tattoo shop. These units can cost between R7000-R30000 but we have them on special for R4500. (in certain instances disposable goods can be used so that there is no need for a sterilizer)
Q: Can I use an ultra-sonic cleaner instead of an autoclave?
A: No. an ultrasonic does not do the job of sterilizing. It is used in the tattoo shop to clean goods and does a far better job than the manual method. (much easier too)
Q: What brand of equipment do you use in your kits?
A: It is a skintrade brand as used by 100's of professional shops around the world.
Q: Are tattoo kits included in the price of tattoo course?
A: No. See details of the kits
Q: Which is the best kit to get?
A: The best kit is obviously the professional one, especially for a beginner or course attendee because it has a bigger range of needles, grips, tips etc. which allows a lot more flexibility of choice for various designs. And the kit has both a liner and shader machine.
Q: Which is the best ink to use?
A: This is a point of contention among artists worldwide and boils down to personal choice. We stock a Skintrade range of inks which I personally use, but we also have a few other ranges available, including intenze inks.
Q: How is your student success rate?
A: My student success rate is very high, but that does not necessarily mean that you will be successful. Making the course work for you is dependant on YOU. We give you the tools to move ahead, it is your job to apply the knowledge as often as possible and to continue to practice the drawing techniques and in general just to draw and tattoo as often as possible. |
